OUR MOST BEAUTIFUL TRIP, WHICH COMBINES ATTRACTIONS LIKE: JEEP SAFARI TROUGH THE WILD CAPES OF ACAMAS WITH CRUISE ON MOST CRYSTAL WATERS OF CYPRUS - THE BLUE LAGOON
ROUTE: Coral Bay (banana plantations) - Agios Giorgos (Ship Wreck) - Sea Caves (pause for photography) - Latchi (fishing village) - Boat Trip To The Blue Lagoon (Approximately 2.5 Hours) - Baths Of Aphrodite - Lunch (optional) - Lara Bay (the turtle beach)
WHAT TO BRING: bathing suits, towels, sun protection and drinking water.
In convenient day of your choice a Jeep will take you directly from your hotel in the morning hours somewhere between 8:30 and 8:45am.
Then passing through the Coral Bay to reach a farm where are located banana plantations. You will stop there for a short break. The driver who will be also your tourist guide will tell you everything about the cultivation of bananas in Cyprus - among many information, why bananas are placed in blue plastic bags and then he will help you find mature Cypriot bananas, which although small in size are very sweet in their taste.
Then we get to the village of Agios Giorgos for a short stop to see and photograph the wreck of a ship that got stuck on the coastal shallows.
Travelling further along the coastline our Jeep arrives at one of the most unusual places to the Sea Caves
INTERESTING FACT: For thousands of years sea water carved amazing shapes here in the soft chalk scales - creating a truly lunar landscape.
After admiring the beautiful scenery of the Sea Caves we go back on to the road to drive through the hills of Acamas peninsula. Their hill tops they offer a beautiful panorama of the National Park and so after short time we go down towards the to the sea to arrive on the other side of the peninsula.
It is precisely in here, where the sea has unusual color and water is transparent up to several meters.
Latchi - Fishing Village - Port
From the ridge of the hill we ride down towards the sea to the fishing village of Latchi - that delights tourists who come here with its picturesque harbor. Optionally we can go here for lunch ( extra fee ) to one of the many port taverns.
It's right here in the port of Latchi where a ship awaits you, to take you on an unforgettable 2.5 hour cruise to the Blue Lagune.
During the cruise, will be able to take advantage of the free juices, wine and fruits.
Boat will navigate across the coast of Acamas the way past the Baths of Aphrodite, The Island of St. Gorga,
Antique Theatre of Acamantis and Sea Caves until it finally reaches its point of destiny situated at the very tip of the Fontana Amoroza cape.
NOTE: The ship has a glass bottom through which you can admire the ocean depths, rock formations, fauna and flora.
Once you will reach this place called the Blue Lagoon - you won't have no doubt that we are in a different world - where amazing blue, warm and crystal-clear water provides excellent conditions for swimming and diving.
It is in here where our boat stops for 1 hour where you can enjoy luxuries of this magical place.
The boat has glass bottom so after visiting lower deck, you can go and enjoy swimming around rock formations and nearby small islands. Drinks and snacks will be provided during your stay at the Blue Lagoon.
Then after swimming in the sea we go back with the accompaniment of music to the port of Latchi, from where our jeep takes us to the Baths of Aphrodite.
Baths of Aphrodite
From the port we travel to the next attraction - a place called the Baths of Aphrodite. It is in here where according to the local legend, Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty use to enjoy a bath in this natural cave surrounded by fig trees.
INTERESTING FACT: Legend proclaims the one who will wash their face in this small pool will be forever young and beautiful ... and so it does not hurt to try it...
Here you will have some free time to stroll through the beautiful gardens and enjoy beautiful views which spreads across the Acamas Peninsula.
You can also optionally go for lunch at the beautifully situated tavern (an additional cost of around 12 - 13 euros per person).
Lara Bay – The Turtle Beach
On the way back we will drive to the beautiful wild beaches of Lara Bay - the place where the sea turtles lay their eggs - this area is protected by law as a nature reserve.
On the beach - in special shelters - there are many photographs of turtles and the driver will tell you about their lives, habits and long routes that female turtles must overcome to reproduce on these wild and beautiful beaches.
Turtles lay in the sand up to 200 eggs and then bury them at suitable depths where eggs maintain hidden at the desired temperature. These sites are then enclosed with special metal cages to protect eggs. Turtles hatch at night and quickly run towards the sea - to protect themselves from potential predators such as birds and snakes
